B58 Winery - Gewurztraminer White Wine 70cl
A wine that should not exist in England and yet here it is - and it is exceptional. B58 Winery's Gewürztraminer is grown near Beaulieu in the New Forest using the innovative protected tunnel growing system pioneered by Sandy Booth, a Hampshire fruit farmer who spent decades perfecting the art of growing under glass before turning his attention to vines.
Working alongside Swiss oenologist Guillaume Lagger and following a low-intervention philosophy, Sandy has made it possible to cultivate this intensely aromatic Alsatian variety on English soil, something almost unheard of in British viticulture. The results are striking: a distinctive, characterful white wine with a gloriously floral nose, hints of lychee and rose petal, and a gently spiced, lingering finish that feels entirely unlike anything else grown on these shores.
Awarded a Bronze Medal at the Wine GB Wessex Awards 2024, this is a wine for adventurous palates and a conversation piece in any hamper. Wonderful with aromatic dishes, mild Asian cuisine, soft cheeses or simply on its own as something quite marvellous.
